Known for its large back-curving horns, which it uses to establish dominance amongst its herd, the Transcaspian Urial makes an impressive trophy on any hunter’s wall. Native to northern India and Iran, these rare, honey-coated sheep are about as attractive as sheep can get. The males’ horns can reach up to 40 inches and their soft, snow-white bib can grow nearly a foot long. With Lonestar Premier Outdoors, you can hunt a Transcaspian Urial of your own right here in Texas.
Transcapian Urial can be found in rolling grassland, where they primarily feed. In the wild, they use their speed and agility to escape their main predators, wolves and leopards. Their speed, strength and heightened awareness make them a particularly challenging hunt.
Transcaspian Urial rams produce delicately flavored meat that lacks the muttony flavor associated with most rams. That being said – there’s no question the horns are the real trophy.
